Referral

Referral (Advocacy)

After a bill or resolution is introduced, it is normally referred to the committee having jurisdiction over the subject of the bill. In the Senate, referrals are generally made to the committee with jurisdiction over the predominant subject matter in the bill or resolution, but measures may be referred to more than one committee by unanimous consent.

Referral (HIV and AIDs)

A suggestion that a patient see another individual (usually a specialist) for another opinion.


Referral (Health Care)

A primary care doctor's written permission for a patient to see a certain specialist or to receive certain services. Required by many managed care health plans.


Referral (Medical)

Directing a patient from one care provider to another for care. Health plans may require the patientÂ’s Primary Care Physician to approve referrals for coverage of specialty services.

Referral (Real Estate)

In the real estate business, generally the act of a past client recommending a real estate broker or agent to one currently seeking to buy or sell real property. Also refers to a referral from one real estate agent to another. This site screens agents and in effect refers them to visitors.
