Rhythm Method (Contraception)

A way to prevent pregnancy by not having vaginal intercourse around the time of ovulation (during fertile or unsafe days). Includes methods such as the basal body temperature method and calendar method. Also known as safe period, periodic abstinence, and more recently, fertility awareness.

Rhythm Method (Medical)

A method of preventing pregnancy in which a couple does not have sexual intercourse during the days of the menstrual cycle during which fertilization can occur

Rhythm Method (Sex)

A method of contraception that involves abstaining from sexual intercourse during the fertile days of the woman's menstrual cycle each month.

Rhythm Method (Sexually Transmitted Diseases)

A way that some people use to keep from getting PREGNANT. People try to do this by not having sex on the days that a woman would usually get PREGNANT. This is usually a few days before, during and after ovulation. Because it's hard to figure out when this happens in each woman, it usually doesn't work very well. It also doesn't stop germs that cause STDs from getting into people's bodies when they do have sex.
