Runoff (Aquaculture)

Polluted water that runs from the land or escapes from a pond into a larger body of water.

Runoff (Climate)

That part of precipitation, snowmelt, or irrigation water that flows from the land to streams or other surface waters.

Runoff (Ecosystems)

The renewable supply of water that flows through rivers after evaporation and infiltration

Runoff (Factory Farms)

Water from precipitation or irrigation that flows over the ground and into bodies of water. It can contribute to soil erosion and carry harmful pollutants.

Runoff (Finance)

Used for listed equity securities. Series of trades printed on the ticker tape that occur on the NYSE before 4:00 p.m., but are not reported until afterwards due to heavy trading that makes the tape late.

Runoff (Fish)

Water that flows over the ground and reaches a stream as a result of rainfall or snowmelt.

Runoff (Frauds and Scams)

The printing of closing prices on the ticker tape after the market has already closed. A runoff usually occurs in very heavy trading in which the tape has fallen behind.

Runoff (Landscape)

That part of the precipitation that appears in surface water bodies after traveling across land.

Runoff (Physical Geography)

The topographic flow of water from precipitation to stream channels located at lower elevations. Occurs when the infiltration capacity of an area's soil has been exceeded. It also refers to the water leaving an area of drainage. Also called overland flow.

Runoff (Science)

Water that flows over land after rainfall, snowmelt, or irrigation

Runoff (Surf)

Often referred to as urban runoff, storm water runoff and non-point source pollution, this type of pollution is rain and river water that collects land-based contaminants and flushes them down to the beach. Surfing A-Z

Runoff (Water Science)

(1) That part of the precipitation, snow melt, or irrigation water that appears in uncontrolled surface streams, rivers, drains or sewers. Runoff may be classified according to speed of appearance after rainfall or melting snow as direct runoff or base runoff, and according to source as surface runoff, storm interflow, or ground-water runoff. (2) The total discharge described in (1), above, during a specified period of time. (3) Also defined as the depth to which a drainage area would be covered if all of the runoff for a given period of time were uniformly distributed over it.saline water
Here are our parameters for saline water:
Fresh water - Less than 1,000 parts per million (ppm)
Slightly saline water - From 1,000 ppm to 3,000 ppm
Moderatly saline water - From 3,000 ppm to 10,000 ppm
Highly saline water - From 10,000 ppm to 35,000 ppm
