Sealant

Sealant (Adhesives and Sealants)

A material which adheres to two adjoining parts of an assembly and prevents the passage of gases, dust, liquids, etc. into or out of the assembly at that point.


Sealant (Animation)

Lacquer, nail polish, or similar material applied to the back of the cel, intended to prevent paint from cracking, or to hold already cracked, loose paint in place. Both animation and sealant can bause color fading or mottling in paint. If desired, can usually be removed by a professional.


Sealant (Automotive)

A material applied, in liquid or paste form, to prevent leakage between parts.


Sealant (Paint)

Often used as a synonym for "caulk." The word "sealant" usually means a compound that has greater performance than a caulk, i.e., it can accommodate movement in a joint or crack.
