Section

Section (Agriculture)

A surveyed parcel of land containing 640 acres one square mile.


Section (Anthromorphemics)

(1) a vertical cut (or exposure) through a body of sediments or a feature. (2) a one-square mile unit in the legal subdivision system.


Section (Anthropology)

(1) a vertical cut (or exposure) through a body of sediments or a feature. (2) a one-square mile unit in the legal subdivision system.


Section (Cartographic)

Unit of subdivision of a township; normally a quadrangle 1 mile square with boundaries conforming to meridians and parallels within established limits, and containing 640 acres as nearly as practicable.


Section (Construction)

The drawing of an object that is cut to show the interior. Also, a panel construction used in walls, floors, ceilings, or roofs.


Section (Egyptian)

The Egyptian museum's collections are divided into 7 sections (1-7), for controlling purposes.

Section (Fountain Pen)

The part of the pen that holds the nib into the barrel.


Section (Maps)

One of 36 one-square mile portions of a township surveyed under the United States Public Land Survey (USPLS)

Section (Real Estate)

A division of land on a government survey comprising one square mile (640 acres). Thirty-six section comprise a township.


Section (Sanitation)

(1) The description, usually graphical but possibly in words, of anything as it would appear if cut through by an intersecting plane. (2) In public land surveying, an area of land approximately one mile square (640 acres).


Section (Speleological)

A map of a cave in a vertical plane, that shows the floor and roof lines.

Section (Surf)


A self-contained part of a breaking wave that breaks prematurely ahead of the original curl of the wave. The curl of a perfect wave will peel off without any sections. Obviously, most waves aren't perfect, but sections can create great opportunities for maneuvers like floaters or re-entries.

Our section is one of the fastest in the country. It consists of member teams from the following LSC’s. South Carolina Georgia North Carolina South Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia.
