Senate (Advocacy)

The upper body of the Congress, and most state legislatures. Each state has two US Senators, elected at-large, to serve six-year terms, with one-third of the seats up for re-election every two years. In state legislatures, Senators usually represent larger geographic areas than House members.

Senate (Legislative Assembly)

The legislative body consisting of 30 members, called senators, each representing districts of approximately 114,000 Oregon citizens.


Senate (Parliamentary Procedure)

(Sénat) - The Upper House of the Canadian Parliament consisting ordinarily of 105 Senators appointed by the Governor General on the advice of the Prime Minister. The Senate possesses all of the powers of the House of Commons except that of initiating financial legislation.
