A session of Congress after it has adjourned sine die, completing its regular session. The president convenes special sessions.


Special Session (Legislative Assembly)

A convening of the Legislature called by the Governor or a majority of the members of the Legislative Assembly, at a time other than during a regular session. Typically, special sessions of the Legislature are called for the purpose of addressing a specific state problem or issue.


Special Session (Parliamentary Procedure)

(session spéciale) - Brief session held for a specific purpose at a time of the year when the House does not usually sit. From a procedural standpoint, a special session is like any other session.
