Spinning (Carpet)

A term for yarn or fiber production. To the fiber manufacturer, spinning is synonymous with extrusion of polymer through the small holes of the spinneret into synthetic fiber. To see spirits in a dream, denotes that some unexpected trouble will confront you. If they are white-robed, the health of your nearest friend is threatened, or some business speculation will be disapproving. If they are robed in black, you will meet with treachery and unfaithfulness.
If a spirit speaks, there is some evil near you, which you might avert if you would listen to the counsels of judgment.

To hear music supposedly coming from spirits, denotes unfavorable changes and sadness in the household.

Exercise class where people are instructed to use a stationary bike in a way that mimics outdoor cycling conditions.

Fishing by employing an open-face or closed-face spinning reel attached under a spinning rod

Spinning (IPO)

A little talked about subject until the Wall Street Journal wrote an article describing how some investment banks favored certain clients with IPO shares in the hope of getting future investment banking business. For example, the CEO of a privately held Silicon Valley software firm who has an account with XYZ Securities might find that he or she was the recipient of a tidy profit from several thousand shares of a particularly hot issue that was bought and sold on the same day.

Spinning (Lighting)

The process of shaping a disk of metal by rotating it on a lathe and pushing it with a forming tool. Also, a part made this way.

Spinning (Metal)

The procedure of making sheet metal discs into hollow shapes by pressing the metal against a rotating form (spinning chuck) by a tool.

Spinning (Rugs)

The process whereby a continuous thread is formed by twisting fibers together. The twist may be imparted by the rotation of a weighted rod (drop spindle) suspended from the thread. Alternatively, the rod may be attached to a rotating wheel driven by hand (spinning wheel) or a machine.

Spinning (Spa)

Stationary bicycle exercise regime guided with an instructor; often combines a video projected image to give one the impression that they are cycling on a terrain of some sort.

Spinning (Weight Loss)

The spinning program utilizes a stationary bike to simulate a real outdoor biking experience. There are no computers attached to the spinner, and the bike has a fixed gear, racing handlebars, pedals with clips or cages, and a seat that can adjust up and down, fore and aft. Each spinner also has a resistance knob that you can use to adjust the intensity of each workout
