Survival Rate (Breast Cancer)

A measure of the frequency of survival in a defined population.


Survival Rate (Cancer)

The percentage of people in a study or treatment group who are alive for a given period of time after diagnosis. This is commonly expressed as five-year survival.

The percentage of people who survive for a given time period after treatment (for example, the 5-year survival rate is the percentage of people who survive 5 years).


Survival Rate (Fish)

Number of fish alive after a specified time interval, divided by the initial number. Usually on a yearly basis.

Survival Rate (Legal, Mesothelioma)

The percentage of survivors with no trace of disease within a certain period of time after diagnosis or treatment. For cancer, a 5-year survival rate is often given. This does not mean that People can't live more than five years, or that those who live for 5 years are necessarily permanently cured.
