American transmission-standaard for telecommuncation connections (ie a leasedline) of 1.5 Mbit/s. Also known as DS1.


T1 (Internet)

A high-speed network link on the Internet.

T1 (Networking)

A T1 line consists of 24 voice channels packed into a 193 bit frame and transmitted at 1.544 Mbps. The unframed version, or payload, is 192 bits at a rate of 1.536 Mbps.

T1 (SEO Acronyms)

Network transmission of a DS1 formatted digital signal at a rate of 1.5 Mb/s

T1 (Technology)

or T-1 n. A T-carrier that can handle 1.544 Mbps or 24 voice channels. Although originally designed by AT&T to carry voice calls, this high-bandwidth telephone line can also transmit text and images. T1 lines are commonly used by larger organizations for Internet connectivity. See also T-carrier. Compare fractional T1, T2, T3, T4.


T1 (Telco)

A common type of digital telephone carrier widely deployed within the US, Canada, and Japan. Has 24 64Kbps channels (called DSÆ ’s). The most common framing scheme for T1 "robs" bits for signaling leaving 56kbps per channel available.

Trunk 1. A heavy duty telephone line.


T1 (Topology)

A space is T1 (or Fréchet or accessible) if for every pair of distinct points x and y in the space, there is an open set containing x but not y. (Compare with T0; here, we are allowed to specify which point will be contained in the open set.) Equivalently, a space is T1 if all its singletons are closed. Every T1 space is T0.
