The process of converting RNA to protein by the assembly of a polypeptide chain from an mRNA molecule at the ribosome.
See more Bioinformatics Terms ...

The process by which the genetic code is transferred to an amino acid sequence in a protein.
See more Biology Terms ...

Synthesis of protein using information contained in a messenger RNA molecule.
See more Biotechnology Terms ...

A tooth movement in which the entire tooth moves forward or backward without tipping or rotating.
See more Dental Terms ...

The synthesis of a protein directed by mRNA (messenger RNA). Translation occurs at the ribosome where mRNA is used to specify the sequence of amino acids in the polypeptide chain.
See more Drug Research Terms ...

A process that converts an image stream from one temporal sample structure to a higher or lower temporal structure. i.e. 3:2 pull down to convert film (24fps) to video (30fps).
See more Electronic Cinematography Terms ...

The reproduction of a book, movie or other work into another language.
See more Entertainment Law Terms ...

The process by which a protein is manufactured at a ribosome, using messenger RNA code and transfer RNA to supply the amino acids.
See more Evolution Terms ...

The process of turning instructions from mRNA, base by base, into chains of amino acids that then fold into proteins. This process takes place in the cytoplasm, on structures called ribosomes.
See more Gene Testing Terms ...

The formation of a polypeptide chain in the specific amino acid sequence directed by the genetic information carried by mRNA.
See more Genetics Terms ...

The process in which the genetic code carried by mRNA (messenger RNA) directs the synthesis of proteins from amino acids. Compare to Transcription.
See more Genetics and Genealogy Terms ...

The process in which the genetic code carried by mRNA directs the synthesis of proteins from amino acids.
See also: transcription
See more Genome Terms ...

The complex process by which information encoded in messenger RNA is translated into protein.
See more HIV and AIDs Terms ...

The process by which the protein molecule is formed from the mRNA blueprint.
See more Huntingtons Disease Terms ...

The process of converting the genetic code into polypeptides, catalyzed by the ribosome and a host of soluble factors. mRNA codons are recognized by tRNA anti-codons. Each tRNA codes for a single amino acid, resulting in synthesis of polypeptide wherein the amino acid sequence is dictated by and matches the order of the codons in the mRNA. Sometimes, however, people speak of "translating" the DNA or RNA when they are merely reading the nucleotide sequence and predicting from it the sequence of the encoded protein. This might be more accurately termed "conceptual translation". Compare transcription.
