Transmission

For Transmission we have terms and definitions in 11 topics. The topics are Automotive, Energy, Fax Machines, HIV and AIDs, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Insulators, Player Piano, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Technology and Uk Power.

Transmission (Automotive)

The gearbox that delivers power from the engine crankshaft to the drive axle or drive shaft. Most modern cars have a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.

Transmission (Energy)

Transporting bulk power over long distances.

Transmission (Fax Machines)

Transmission is the process of sending documents over the phone line from your fax machine to the receiving machine.

Transmission (HIV and AIDs)

In the context of HIV disease, HIV is spread most commonly by sexual contact with an infected partner. The virus can enter the body through the mucosal lining of the vagina, vulva, penis, rectum, or, rarely, the mouth during sex. The likelihood of transmission is increased by factors that may damage these linings, especially other sexually transmitted diseases that cause ulcers or inflammation. HIV also is spread through contact with infected blood, most often by the sharing of drug needles or syringes contaminated with minute quantities of blood containing the virus. Children can contract HIV from their infected mothers either during pregnancy or birth, or postnatally through breast-feeding. In developed countries, HIV is now rarely transmitted by transfusion of blood or blood products because of screening measures.

Transmission (Hepatitis B)

The way or method by which a disease can be spread.

Transmission (Hepatitis C)

The transfer of a disease from one person to another.

Transmission (Insulators)

The high voltage power lines between the power generating source and the lower voltage primary distribution networks.

Transmission (Player Piano)

The device that transmits motion of the wind motor and drives the paper roll. Wind motors do not reverse the direction of rotation to rewind the paper roll; that job falls to the transmission. (See The Transmission - click here)

Transmission (Sexually Transmitted Diseases)

The ways that any kind of disease, including a STD, can be spread. Having unprotected oral, anal, or vaginal sex, are the main ways STDs are transmitted. STDs can't pass through human skin. They can get through open cuts or sores and through places that have mucous membranes like in someone's mouth, anus, vagina or penis tip. Blood, semen, pre-seminal fluid, vaginal and cervical secretions and breast milk are all fluids that can transmit STDs.

Transmission (Technology)

process of transporting voice or data over a network or facility from one point to another

Transmission (Uk Power)

The network of high voltage lines, transformers and switches used to move electricity from generators to the distribution system. Also used to interconnect different utility systems and independent power producers together into a synchronized network. Transmission is considered to end when the energy is transformed for distribution to the consumer
