A drug used in diabetes treatment that is being studied for its effect on reducing the risk of cancer cell growth in fat tissue.

Troglitazone (Diabetes)

A drug formerly used as a treatment for Type 2 (noninsulin-dependent) diabetes; belongs to a class of drugs called thiazolidinediones. Withdrawn from the market in March, 2000 because of rare liver problems.See also: Oral hypoglycemic agents.

Troglitazone (HIV and AIDs)

A drug used to lower blood TRIGLYCERIDES. Because troglitazone induces the CYP3A4 (see CYTOCHROME P450) pathway, it is not recommended for people on ANTIRETROVIRAL therapy.
