UDP (Cellular Networking)

User Datagram Protocol. An internet protocol providing basic services only. Compare with TCP

UDP (Computer Technology)

(User Datagram Protocol) Uses a special type of packet called a datagram. Datagrams do not require a response, they are one way only. Datagrams are usually used for streaming media.

UDP (Internet)

(User Datagram Protocol)
One of the protocols for data transfer that is part of the TCP/IP suite of protocols. UDP is a "stateless" protocol in that UDP makes no provision for acknowledgement of packets received.

UDP (Linux, Red Hat)

See User Datagram Protocol (UDP).

UDP (Technology)

Acronym for User Datagram Protocol. The connectionless protocol within TCP/IP that corresponds to the transport layer in the ISO/OSI model. UDP converts data messages generated by an application into packets to be sent via IP but does not verify that messages have been delivered correctly. Therefore, UDP is more efficient than TCP, so it is used for various purposes, including SNMP; the reliability depends on the application that generates the message. See also ISO/OSI model, packet, protocol, SNMP, TCP/IP. Compare IP, TCP.
