The level below the land surface at which the subsurface material is fully saturated with water. The depth of the water table reflects the minimum level to which wells must be drilled for water extraction.


Water Table (Hunting)

The upper surface of groundwater. Below it, the soil is saturated with water.The upper surface of a zone of saturation, where the body of groundwater is not confined by an overlying impermeable formation. Where an overlying confining formation exists, the aquifer in question has no water table.
