There are lots of diets on the market that promise weight loss. Many diet programs coach and advise the client, and some include their own brand of foods and supplements. Nutritional counselors, fitness consultants and other related professionals also can help you design a plan that is right for you, and provide the encouragement you need for success. You may find that joining a class that gets you moving, such as dance, weight training, or aerobics, can help. The key is to find something that you ENJOY and that makes you FEEL GOOD. For most people, a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables and whole, unprocessed foods, low in fat and high in fiber, together with increased physical activity, will result in weight loss. However, there are some people with unique metabolisms or medical conditions that may need special diets. Professional assistance can be particularly important in these cases. Also, many peoples eating habits developed as a way to meet subconscious emotional needs. In these cases, addressing the underlying subconscious issues is very important in releasing self-destructive behaviors. A counselor can be very helpful, as can yoga, meditation, visualization or other practices that address our self-concept and deep emotional and spiritual healing. Strong emotional support systems, with people close to you to encourage (not criticize) you, can also be very helpful.
