baseband

For baseband we have terms and definitions in 7 topics. The topics are Bluetooth, Cellular Networking, Electronic Cinematography, Internet, Multimedia, Networking and Technology.

Baseband (Bluetooth)

The baseband describes the specifications of the digital signal processing part of the hardware -- the Bluetooth link controller, which carries out the baseband protocols and other low-level link routines.

Baseband (Cellular Networking)

The signal(s) used to modulate the radio channel in the transmitter, and which are recovered by the receiver by demodulating the received radio channel.

Baseband (Electronic Cinematography)

Any signal in its original form prior to modulation or after demodulation.

Baseband (Internet)

A transmission method in which a network uses its entire transmission range to send a single signal.

Baseband (Multimedia)

When applied to audio and video, baseband means an audio or video signal that is not modulated onto another carrier (such as RF modulated to channel 3 or 4 for example). In DTV, baseband also may refer to the basic (unmodulated) MPEG stream.

Baseband (Networking)

This is a networking technology that uses a line’s entire available bandwidth to transfer a single signal of digital data. Signals are not modulated and only one kind of signal (voice or data) can be sent at a time.

Baseband (Technology)

Of or relating to communications systems in which the medium of transmission (such as a wire or fiber-optic cable) carries a single message at a time in digital form. Baseband communication is found in local area networks such as Ethernet and Token Ring. See also Ethernet, fiber optics, Token Ring network. Compare broadband.
